I borrowed money and avoided the person when I finally understood

I planned to pay them back quickly, but shame made me disappear instead of having an honest conversation. I keep replaying it because the small detail I ignored at the time now feels like the whole point. I do not need a perfect answer; I just need the truth outside my head.
